Here’s a bit of our journey:
We purchased 3 acres in Northern Nevada in August 2020 and then searched many floorplans before we decided that the Beulah met all our needs and desires. We needed a large shop/garage that could house our 37 ft 5th wheel and 2 trucks,and we wanted covered porches on all the other sides of the house. We also wanted a large open area, 3 bedrooms, an office, a big kitchen and utility room, and a loft. Beulah fit the bill perfectly. We purchased the plan from barndominiumfloorplans.com in late 2020, before we made our big move from Sugar Land, TX to northern Nevada in January 2021 and started living in our RV. We found our GC and had to have our plans engineered per local code. During the engineering process, we modified the plans to add more windows to the loft area. The construction process began in November 2021 and was finally mostly finished in March 2023.
The house is 5056 sq ft with the loft. The deep covered porches are perfect for entertaining, watching the sunrise and sunset, and keeping out the hot summer sun. Downstairs ceilings are 10Â ft high. We chose to enclose the master ceiling instead of leaving it open to the upstairs, and enclosed the room above, which will eventually be a media room. We eliminated the tub in the master bath and have a huge shower with a bench instead. We also moved the office to the front of the house and placed the hallway between the office and bedroom/bath access hallway.
